Employee Spotlight
Adam Laycock

by Greg Crego
Adam Laycock Lilac 2009After a brief hiatus, we'd like to continue with our employee spotlight series.  This edition will feature Adam Laycock.  Adam has been at the store since October of 2007 and has grown into one of our more regular employees while finishing up his Master's Degree in School Counseling from the University of Rochester.  Not coincidentally, Adam aspires to be a school counselor, where he would also like to coach cross country and/or track wherever he ends up.

Adam has been running for about 12 years now.  He ran cross country and track in high school at Oakfield-Alabama and took that passion to SUNY Fredonia where he also ran XC and Track.  He credits running with teaching him perseverance, motivation, balance, toughness, self-awareness and confidence.  He will need all of that through the summer as he trains for his first marathon.  Adam hopes that his PRs in the 5k (16:49), 10k (35:27) and Half-Marathon (1:29:29) combined with a solid summer of training will get him a Boston Qualifier.

 Supernova Shoes

Glide and Sequence
by Greg Crego

After returning from World War I, a young Bavarian man, Adolph Dassler, started making his sport shoes out of his mother's wash kitchen, and by 1924 his brother Rudolph joined the business.  By 1928, the brothers had equipped several athletes during the Olympics, allowing the company to grow.  In the 1936 games, Jesse Owens competed his way to four Gold Medals in Adidas shoes.  In 1947 the brothers split with Rudi forming Puma and Adolph, or "Adi" as he was called, formed Adidas.  And as they say "the rest is history."  Needless to say, Adidas has been making quality, performance minded shoes for nearly a century, and we'd like to highlight some of their technology and a couple of their current models.

Adidas Women's Supernova SequenceAdidas shoes all feature ForMotion, AdiPRENE cushion technology and GEOFIT technology.  ForMotion features radical new cuts and 3D engineering to better follow the curves of the body and mimic the motion of sport, creating greater comfort and range of motion.  AdiPRENE is an elastic material designed to respond to the cushioning needs of your moving foot.  GEOFIT is an internal technology designed to enhance fit by placing padding where needed for a more effective distribution of pressure.
Adidas Men's Supernova Glide

The Supernova Sequence 2 (Women's pictured above) is a stability trainer designed for those runners that mildly to moderately over-pronate.

The Supernova Glide (Men's pictured at right) is a neutral trainer designed for those with a high or neutral arch.  The men's shoe is streamlined to meet the demands of a man's stride, while the women's offers a specific upper designed with more space and no overlays in the bunion area to ensure maximum comfort.

The general consensus for both shoes is a great fit with exceptional cushioning on heel impact and very substantial forefoot cushion.
